It's safe to say we have reached our goals for our farm here in the Ascadian Isles. Along with now having three beekeeping boxes filled with honeybees, today we acquired three dairy cows from a cattle breeder in the West Gash (later in the year the cows will need to be taken back to the breeder to visit a bull). The agreement is that the breeder will get the calves while we will have cows that will continue to produce milk. The "lead cow", a black and white Holstein, is particularly gentle and agreeable, immediately settling into the enclosure we set up for her and the other two cows.

The cows were a big item to cross off the list. Now along with fresh fruits, vegetables and eggs, we will have milk, cheese, and butter. But that's not all. Once the our garden is ready to be harvested, we can create a variety of flavored milks, such as strawberry, banana, pumpkin spice. And of course bottled honey milk (thanks to our bees).
Finally, with the use of our canning station, we'll be able to create jars of jams and preserves. Rosewood Farm is going to have a lot to offer to our community now that we have started production.
Today it was Neldor's turn to be at the guild hall for only a few hours this morning, so he was home for the delivery of the bees and cows. Once our new livestock was settled in, he milked the cows, fed the bees (after smoking the boxes of course), then went into the green house and planted a row of Life Fruit, Flame Fruit, and some pumpkins, and a variety of grapes. Once the nectar ingredients grow and are ready to be harvested with purchase a couple of nectar making machines and set them up in the basement.
This is really exciting for both of us. It's amazes us to see how much will be able to make, and since we'll work for ourselves Neldor will be able to devote more time to performing with Clever Prank and I'll have more time for art and alchemy.
Speaking of alchemy, I spent a long time this evening pouring over the alchemy books in my laboratory. There are some potions I want to make and have on hand here as soon as I have the needed ingredients; namely the Cure Elixir and Potent Cure Elixirs. Considering the...life-states...of some of our neighbors, there is always the chance of ending up bitten (as I know too well). The Ravenwatch vampires have yet to cause any problems, but the little Breton known as Sophelia is another story entirely.

Then there are the full moon zombies everyone has to worry about. Even though they seem to like to tear up gardens, they will still attempt to bite people. And last, but not least, are the werewolves. I haven't heard anything about the female werewolves attacking anyone, but I know all too well that Godonir is itching to bite me again and I don't trust him to adhere to our truce.
The problem with the elixirs is that only the Potent variety of elixir cures lycanthropy, and one of the ingredients for that elixir is powdered ruby; not exactly something I can grow in the garden. Rubies are something I'll have to go out and look for.
I'm sure Godonir would be thrilled if I were to ask for his assistance in finding reagents, but he would be furious if he knew what I wanted and why.
On another note, before I end this entry; tomorrow is Thorinor's wedding to Sarasvati, so for tonight Neldor, Basnik, and Brolmir are staying with Thorinor at the house where the groom will be living with his new bride after tomorrow's ceremony (Sarasvati is at her father's tower). The idea is that Neldor and the cousins will be keeping an eye on Thorinor and prevent him from sneaking off to see his soon-to-be wife before the wedding. In truth it's an occasion for the four of them to get together and enjoy food and drink while teasing the bride-groom.
I don't mind Neldor staying with his brother tonight, but I do wish the green tinge wasn't in the air. Yes, the moons are full and there is howling out there tonight. No zombies, thank goodness, but lots of howling. Needless to say, every door and window in this house is tightly locked. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if a certain black werewolf is well aware that I am here alone tonight.

I came across some mods that I knew Aeronwen would be thrilled with since they made the dairy farm and the canning station more useful.
Pasteurize Milk Mod
To make the cows look better, I'm using this retexure override: Default Cow Re-texture for the Farm Fresh Folk Cow
Canning Station Overhaul.
Look for Rosewood Farm produce, preserves, desserts and dairy products at an Elder Scrolls grocery store near you. ;)
