aeronwen: (Aeronwen)

Although my copy of Morrowind no longer plays on my computer, that doesn't stop the stories from forming in my mind, and although the game itself does not run on Windows 10, I am still able to get into the construction set to get dialog and read journal entries. So for the past week I've had this nagging idea of continuing to work on the story of Aeronwen's banishment to Vvardenfell, but I will be "pretending to play" by grabbing the information I need from the construction set and using Sims 3 to set the stage and depict, at least as much as possible, the scenes that are playing out.

Right after I post this new sticky entry on the journal I'm going to repost the first entry of the story but with "Sim Shots" to illustrate it. I have no idea how much I will do this since setting up the scenes using the Sims takes even more time and work than just playing Morrowind and taking screenshots, but at least for now the creative bug is biting me.

For stories I didn't get to before my computer update, such as Constance's quest and the Witchgirl story, I can grab what I need from the CS and from entries from my old fanfic blog that was exported to Dreamwidth from Live Journal. Setting up the screens will require using settings from various worlds. For example, I used the interior of a house in Dragon Valley with changed siding textures as the interior of Mournhold Palace.

There are areas of the Twinbrook world that will work for Bitter Coast settings, and Dragon Valley can work as part of the Ascadian Isles, especially with tall "mushroom trees" added. A couple of the worlds have areas that can work as the West Gash, and of course it's not difficult to build Elder Scrolls styled buildings whenever I need a village or town scene. As for places like the Ashlands, I don't know yet. I'll have to see what I can find when the time comes. This is most certainly an entry-by-entry project. And of course I don't have any guar, kagouti, cliff racer or other Elder Scroll creature statues to place in the scenes but that can't be helped.

So again, no guarantees and no promises. I don't know how many entries will go up. I'll do the scenes and repost the entries unless/until the process ceases to be fun.

I've had to do some lore-bending when it comes to Morrowind's flora and fauna. Although the modding community has added a lot of sliders and have really pushed the envelope when it comes to creating creatures using horses, dogs, and cats as a base, it's just not possible to create creatures like guars, alits, and kagoutis. A nix hound can "sort of" be made using a dog, but it doesn't have the insect look of Morrowind's nix hounds.

Thanks to modders I have zebras, wolves, foxes, mules, donkeys, and big draft horses, plus there are already deer and raccoons in the game, but no guars, cliff racers, alits, or kagoutis. So please be warned that any wildlife encounters will feature animals that I have come up with to replace the wildlife that is seen in the Morrowind game.
