So far I'm finding that time in the guild hall isn't boring, especially as I get to know my guild-mates who are more than happy to fill us in about our fellow New Pelagiad residents. This afternoon I was able to get better acquainted with Thorinor's betrothed Sarasvati and Master Aryon's apprentice Saje while Neldor and Thorinor were out on a guild assignment (which involved killing some unusually large spiders which had gotten into the office building).

When I mentioned the story in the news about Master Neloth punching a member of House Redoran, Saje replied, "Yeah, he's been upset with Darkfell because of the speeding tickets."

I inquired, "Speeding tickets?"

The young Dunmer explained, "Have you seen those broomsticks that have flying enchantments on them? Neloth is one of the mages who has taken to using them, but he tends to fly too fast when going through town. Darkfell is one of the mers who is tasked with giving tickets to those who don't slow their brooms down while inside of town."

Sarasvati stated, "Darkfell had just given Neloth yet another ticket for speeding. Neloth decided that the rules don't apply to him, so he punched Darkfell."

Amazed, I asked, "Did Neloth get away with it?"

Laughing, Saje answered, "Hardly. He's stewing in a prison cell as we speak. He's going to be locked up for quite a while for that little love tap."

With a frown, Sarasvati said, "Unless his friend Gilvoth bails him out. Gilvoth and Neloth are thick as thieves. They spend most of their time trying to come up with ways to make everyone around them miserable while they sit and stuff their faces with rich foods."

Still confused, I asked, "But why is Neloth here? I thought the Telvanni Mage Lords never left their towers."

Becoming somber, Saje gestured at Sarasvati and explained, "Because of her. He decided not long ago that he wanted to get married and that Sarasvati would make the perfect high-born Telvanni bride. This would also be a good way to stick it to Aryon, whom Neloth hates."

Spreading her hands, Sarasvati said, "I told Neloth that I have no interest in him, and that I love Thorinor and wish to marry him, but Neloth isn't the sort to take no for an answer."

And here Neldor and I thought that Thorinor would have problems with Sarasvati's father, but on the contrary it appears that Master Aryon likes Thorinor quite a bit. For the moment Thorinor and Sarasvati don't have a wedding date set, but whenever it is, they really want Neldor and I to be there, which of course we will.

Along with telling me about Neloth and Gilvoth, who are unexpectedly spending a lot of time around New Pelagiad, Saje and Sarasvati told me about some of the other residents who live in and around town. One person to keep an eye on is Yanna, the Bosmer thief who was recently featured in the news after trying to rob Ravenwatch Manor. Yanna was featured again in this evening's news after she attempted to rob a home that is affectionately known as Merry Widow Manor. It is called thus because it's the home of three lively widows whom most of the town finds quite endearing. Apparently they are quite fiesty and more than capable to taking care of themselves;

"Try to rob me, will she? Well, I'll teach her a thing or two," grumbled Demiah Retheran after catching the local Cat trying to break into her home. After a quick take-down, Yanna Swift Leaf found herself on the ground in the snow with a mighty bruised ego.

Once again someone was able to be there at just the right moment to capture an image of the incident on memory crystal, but no one has any idea whom the mysterious image-capturer is or how he or she manages to always be at the right place at the right time.

The guild-hall gossip was so entertaining that I was almost disappointed when it was time to go home. Neldor and Thorinor had to remain their a little while to fill out reports regarding the large spiders, so I headed home by myself.

When I was approaching the front door I noticed a lump of snow moving around. The "lump" turned out to be Casper who had come outside through the pet door to relieve himself. The snow is so deep that the little white puppy was practically buried in it. Only his little black nose, his shiny dark eyes, and the pink inside of his ears could be seen in the sea of whiteness.

Impressed that Casper had come out into the deep snow to relieve himself when it would have been easier for him to just make a puddle inside the house, I looked at him and told him what a good boy he was. Like all dogs, Casper loves to be praised and caused the snow to move around as he attempted to wag his tail.

When he had finished making a puddle, I picked him up and told him, "Next winter you'll be a big dog and won't have to worry about the snow covering you. For now let's get you inside and warmed up."

After Casper was dried off and warmed up I went to my laboratory to work on my own guild assignment; making healing potions for my fellow guild members. It was an assignment that I was more than happy to take. Leave dealing with big spiders to the other adventurers. Me, I'll stick to mixing up ingredients that will dispel poisons and close wounds.

Before closing this entry I want to say that I made a note to get one of those Dwemer-designed alarms that alert home owners if someone tries to break into the house. Yanna doesn't seem like a person who learns her lesson and it's possible that sooner or later she might try to rob our home. If she does, she'll likely find herself knocked down in the snow here as well.
